Heart Attacks and Brain Strokes Have Common Prevention Strategies, Say Doctors ‘Open Heart’ with Prof. Dr. V. S. Ramchandra Highlights the Role of Exercise, Lifestyle Changes and Early Intervention

Sri Sri Holistic Hospitals, Kondapur, organised an ‘Open Heart’ interactive session as part of its public health awareness initiative coinciding with World Heart Day activities. The session highlighted the common risk factors associated with heart attacks and brain strokes and emphasised the importance of preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyle choices and early medical intervention.

Prof. Dr. V. S. Ramchandra, Chairman and Chief of Cardiology and Electrophysiology, stressed that regular physical activity can help reduce cardiovascular risks and support recovery. Dr. Sajja Venkatesh, Consultant Neurologist and Neurovascular Intervention Specialist, highlighted the importance of managing high blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol through regular health check-ups, appropriate medical treatment and sustained lifestyle changes.

Dr. Sravan Peravali, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, emphasised the benefits of a balanced diet, regular exercise and maintaining physical fitness. The doctors advised people to avoid tobacco, follow prescribed treatments and seek medical evaluation for unusual or concerning symptoms rather than ignoring them.

The session also highlighted the importance of recognising emergency warning signs. Chest discomfort, breathlessness and cold sweats may indicate a heart attack, while sudden facial drooping, weakness on one side of the body, speech difficulties or loss of balance may signal a stroke. Both conditions require immediate medical attention to reduce the risk of serious complications.

The doctors encouraged people to undergo periodic health assessments and adopt preventive measures suited to their individual health conditions. Through this interactive session, Sri Sri Holistic Hospitals reinforced its commitment to raising awareness about heart health, stroke prevention and the importance of timely medical care.
